Song Title: California Calling. Style: Rock / Alt

Verse One:

Waiting on your doorstep … Oh I'm a sorry man...

What will be tomorrow... Tell me if you can...

Instrumental------------------------transition – single acoustic-------------------------------

I know that life is calling... Don't leave me behind...

In all the world there's no one left for me... to find...

Hook #1

But you're thinking it over... such a sad sad day...

Thinking it over... Will you go or stay...

California's calling... Leave on a Saturday...

Have your new life in your hands by Monday...

It's so far from a sunny day...

Verse Two:

California's calling... Feel you have to go...

Leave behind the cold and snow... For something you think you know...

Instrumental-----------------------transition-- single acoustic-----------------------------------

California's calling... Ain't no more to say...

Nothing here but rain and cold... You need your sunny day...

Hook #2

But you're thinking it over... Such a sad sad day...

Thinking it over... Nothing's in your way...

California's calling... Oh what a sorry day...

Tried to make you see... But there ain't no way...

It's so hard to see beyond today...

Why I Wrote It:

I am in the middle of writing a book about Jesus. So, I am only writing Christian Lyrics because that is where my head is at.. But I'm not writing those lyrics out because I don't want them to influence what I'm writing book wise... Maybe they will become another play. When I was writing manuscripts regularly I rarely wrote lyrics at all. But, occasionally a set would show up and be so strong that I had to write it out. That's what California Calling is... A concept of leaving New York for Golden California has been kicking around in my head for a while. After I finished my manuscript writing for the day today a snatch of lyric was kicking around in my head... “I am nearly freezing... Open up and let me in”

I wrote it down and as soon as I did the rest of the song showed up. It happens that way a lot. The song wrote itself in just a couple of minutes. It's likable, to me anyway.
